Development of Technical Guidelines and Standards for IoT Network Deployment

I&T Solution Development of Technical Guidelines and Standards for IoT Network Deployment
(REF : S-0041)
Matched I&T Wish
Trial Project
Solution Feature
  • The following tasks will be delivered in this project (A & B):
(A) A software that comprises of:

(A.1) A harmonisation propagation model incorporating numerous IoT devices.
(A.2) The evaluation of indoor and outdoor signal coverage planning.
(A.3) The evaluation of the optimum positions of IoT gateways and sensors.

(B) A testbed including various emerging IoT wireless technologies, consisting of LoRa, Sigfox, Bluetooth, ZigBee, NB-IoT / eLTE-IoT, and 5G (if available), and IoT sensor networks implemented at buildings / infrastructures.

  • A frequency harmonization model (A.1) incorporating numerous IoT devices will be developed to improve the data transmission. The harmonization will optimize the channel / frequency assignment and management of all IoT devices within the working area through monitoring the channel usage and analysing the behaviours of IoT devices.
  • The propagation models for different IoT network technologies will be developed to estimate the corresponding signal coverages. This will manifest the guidance in indoor and outdoor signal coverage planning (A.2) of IoT network deployment.
  • Various emerging IoT wireless technologies will be tested to develop the propagation model (B). Meanwhile, an adaptive and intelligent model for deploying IoT gateways and sensors at strategic locations (A.3) will be developed.  Numerous types of sensors would be installed in this pilot.
