Advanced Solar Glazing System with High Thermal Insulation of Building Envelope

I&T Solution Advanced Solar Glazing System with High Thermal Insulation of Building Envelope
(REF : S-1293)
Trial Project
Solution Feature
  • Generation of renewable energy (up to 40Wp per m2) from the building envelope that would otherwise be a surface that does not generate any electricity
  • Ability to integrate with commercially available high-performance coating technologies that improve the building envelope thermal performance
  • High visual light transmission of up to 70% which helps to maintain optimum internal environment and occupant comfort
  • Can be configured to suit local climatic conditions to optimize energy generation and performance based on design requirements
  • Carbon neutral over the lifetime of the product
Trial Application and Expected Outcome
  • Deployed in a section of the building where it can be directly compared to traditional glazing showing the improvement in building energy use when our product is deployed. We will also measure energy generation that can offset energy use. (South facing façade is preferred)
  • We would like to install temperature sensors to measure relative solar heat gain compared to standard glazing, it is expected that the heat transfer from our product would be substantially lower
  • Measure the energy consumption of the building HVAC system within the area where our product is deployed comparing to a section of building with existing glazing, we expect to see a reduction in HVAC use in the section with our product
  • Measure Predicted Mean Vote (PMV), Predicted Percentage Dissatisfied (PPD)- according to ISO Standard 7730 for occupant comfort. Use externally and internally mounted sensors to measure UV light, expected substantial reduction in UV light penetration improving occupant comfort and longevity of furniture and fittings
  • Enhanced visual light transmission vs. thermal performance, improves natural light indoors without sacrificing thermal performance. Measurement using a photonic meter inside and outside the glazed areas, expected to show that our product has higher visual light transmission and thermal performance
