Summary and Challenges

The purpose of this project is to design and develop a customised passenger flow analytics and forecasting system at ferry terminals for optimal control of electrical, mechanical, air-conditioning and building services (EMABS) systems to achieve energy saving.

The current problem is that the usage and demand of different EMABS installations at ferry terminals solely depend on the volume and flow of passengers, and the systems operate without optimisation. Energy saving opportunities have been missed.

With the capability to collect and analyse the passenger traffic on an on-going basis, the new system shall identify energy saving opportunities, suggest improvement measures and formulate control strategies for the different EMABS installations for optimal efficiency.

Expected Outcome To develop a passenger flow analytics & forecasting system for energy saving at ferry terminals.
