Smart Robotic System for Collection of Refuse in Remote Coastal Area

I&T Wish Smart Robotic System for Collection of Refuse in Remote Coastal Area
(REF : W-0156)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges

Objective: The purpose of this project is to design and develop an automatic or remote-controlled robotic system for collection of refuses in remote coastal area of conservation importance (e.g. beaches within/ near marine parks) in Hong Kong.

Challenge:
1) Accessibility: The system should be able to collect refuses in remote coastal areas where are difficult to access by human worker due to absent of footpath or proper mooring site nearby.
2) Durability: The system should be able to collect refuses with considerable weight and transport them to nearby refuse collection point or proper area with vehicle access connecting to refuse collection point.
3) Environmentally Friendly: The system should not cause unacceptable disturbance to the natural environment (e.g. damaging vegetation, hurting wild animals, polluting the marine environment).

Expected Outcome This project aims to develop an automatic or remote controlled robotics for collection of refuses in remote coastal area of conservation importance.
Expected Trial Duration Estimated project duration : 24 months

Project Deliverables The trial project will contain four stages which are (1) system design proposal, (2) system development and manufacturing, (3) pilot test and (4) system performance assessment and reporting stages. The system developer is required to provide the required study and design proposal, robotic system, pilot test operation and system maintenance service, and final assessment report to evaluate the system performance, effectiveness, cost effectiveness and recommendation for improvement for this project.
