Summary and Challenges

Smart tracking system is sought to develop mobile IoT devices with a comprehensive management platform for tracking the indoor and outdoor locations of interested object or personnel and provide alert if they are out of the preset area boundary. The mobile IoT devices and management platform is expected to achieve the following: -

Mobile IoT devices:

  • Adopt Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies for data transmission;
  • Adopt one of the GNSS and one non-GNSS technologies for accurate indoor and outdoor positioning;
  • Battery life: at least 20 days supporting battery level detection;
  • Water resistance: IP67 or above;
  • Wearable with wristband or armband (for personnel tracking application);
  • Build-in motion detection, wristband or armband removed or damaged detection (for personnel tracking application)preferred;
  • User health status detection (e.g. heartbeat, body temperature) preferred (for personnel tracking application); and
  • Preferred to be handy, small in dimension and light in weight.

Management Platform

  • GIS based management platform with maps showing the device live and historical locations;
  • Scalable to support the management of more than 10,000 numbers of mobile IoT devices;
  • Enable the system administration to register new devices and configure the device setting
  • Support the configuration of geo-fence feature per tracking device;
  • Provide alert and alarm acknowledgement feature for following scenarios:
    • Low battery level
    • Devices removal or damaged
    • Enter/out of geo-fence
Expected Outcome

Solution provider shall be responsible for supplying a certain amount of mobile IoT devices and setup the corresponding management platform within a short period of time. The solution provider shall also be responsible for test and commissioning works as well as providing training and technical supporting services to end users.
