Project Summary and Challenges

The purpose of this project is to develop indoor robots that automatically send and receive documents, and monitor the environment during transportation and idle time. The robots can enhance office administration efficiency and curb the occupational safety hazard of manual handling.

Expected Outcome
  1. Equipped with 3D Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR), positioning accuracy of +/- 3cm within 5 meters.
  2. Coordinating indoor and document rack positioning for accurately handling document delivery.
  3. Safely avoiding persons/object at full speed with loading not less than 30kg.
  4. Able to pass through corridors at 75cm width.
  5. Successfully delivering documents to racks of height 60cm to 120cm or wider.
  6. Battery supporting full load operation of 8 hours or more.
  7. Connecting to IoT network (e.g. WiFi, Bluetooth) to follow web-based programme, send and receive commands, messages, and monitor its real-time location.
  8. Equipped with temperature, humidity, air quality and light sensors for environmental monitoring and transmission back to server for storage
