Monitoring Airflow Direction by Smart Lighting System

I&T Wish Monitoring Airflow Direction by Smart Lighting System
(REF : W-0252)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges

Taking advantage of the dense distribution of the smart lighting equipment, it is cost-effective to integrate device for collecting environment parameters to monitor airflow patterns within an area.  The information would be useful for monitor the performance and effectiveness of MVAC system.  In particular, during epidemic period, certain areas within a building may be changed to different usages to cater for infectious diseases control.  Information on airflow pattern is important to the operation and maintenance personnel who are responsible for the adjustment of the MVAC system to meet operational needs.

Expected Outcome

This project aims to use device installed in the smart lighting system to monitor the indoor airflow direction and pattern. It should be able to provide the following:

  • Airflow with direction, pattern and particle track animation.
  • Air pressure distribution of the area and air pressure comparison of different areas.
  • Compact-sized/Easy to install/Support Wi-Fi or any wireless networking technologies /Power to be fed by the smart lighting system
  • Able to communicate with local BMS/CCMS
  • Provide graphical user interface and can be run on desktops and tablets etc.

Expected Trial Duration March 2020 to March 2021
