Summary and Challenges

Develop an Android-based control system on an autonomous robot for workplaces. The robot can provide simple medical checking for target subjects, and is equipped with voice control interaction platform and environmental monitoring in indoor environment.

Expected Outcome
  1. Interfacing with devices and recording vital signs such as body temperature, blood pressure, blood oxygen level and heart rate, vital measures can be digitized from corresponding patients after registration.
  2. Interfacing with Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) sensors (e.g. temperature, humidity, light intensity, Particulate Matter 2.5 (PM 2.5)) to measure and record indoor environment.
  3. Developing voice recognition library of at least three languages (e.g. English, Cantonese and Mandarin) and building conversion system for voice-to-text translation of spoken content. The data received can be stored in cloud through wireless connection.
  4. Using Simultaneous Localization and Mapping function (SLAM) to guide the target subjects towards designated locations and avoid obstacles, ramp-up for at least 4.8 degree, full carrying load not less than 3kg, speed reaching 1m/s). At least 8 hours operating hour in single charge and auto-return charging docking station upon low battery.
  5. Providing information and entertainment, and becoming indoor tour guide.
Expected Trial Duration 9 months
