Summary and Challenges
  • The objective of the project is to develop an intelligent solution that helps monitor the temperature of plugs in station kiosks as a safety precursor.
  • For safety reason, the plug should not overheat or else an accident, such as smouldering or even fire, might happen. However, there are numerous plugs in all station kiosks and some plugs are not readily accessible in the kiosk environment.
  • Hence, a smart solution is needed to monitor the temperature of the plugs in the station kiosks. The power supply of plug shall be suspended timely while any anomaly is detected and followed up with tenants.
Expected Outcome
  1. To keep track of the temperature and to detect overheating of electrical appliance plugs 
  2. To suspend plug's power supply while any anomaly is detected 
  3. To alert HQ colleagues regarding the anomaly for timely follow-up with tenants
Expected Trial Duration
  1. POC - 1 month
  2. Trial at specific kiosks with bad track record - 6 months
  3. Roll out to extensive number of kiosks - 12 months
