Summary and Challenges
  • Robots work in separate and independent management systems, which cannot share data, information and communicate with other robots. This project aims to develop a Cloud-Controlled Autonomous Mobile Robot Management Platform with centralized dashboard to monitor, control and deploy various types of robot.
  • Project Challenges:
    1. Maps building and deploying autonomous control for different brands’ robot in complex environments, which cannot be controlled on a single platform. It is necessary to manage different types and brands of robots simultaneously through a cloud management platform.
    2. Sensor data collected from individual robots to be shared with robots. Robot sensing includes vision, audio, infrared, etc.
    3. Capabilities to assign artificial intelligence (AI) skills to robots, such as object recognition, environment analysis, and follow-me tracking, etc.
    4. Provision of online cloud mapping, storing and processing 3D point clouds and grid maps for navigation route planning and deployment.
Expected Outcome
  1. Cloud management platform for building and managing maps for robot navigation path planning, real-time monitoring of robot status, reviewing historical task and providing data management.
  2. Interoperability and orchestration autonomous robots, such as path planning, task allocation, etc.
  3. Implement AI skills, such as AI object recognition, environment analysis, follow-me tracking, etc., to different robots via platform.
