Summary and Challenges

This project aims to develop a smart reservation system for co-working space and car park with a view to enhancing their utilisation rates.

The smart reservation system would monitor and control the use and occupancy of meeting rooms and car park spaces using IoT sensors (i.e. LoRa sensors), which would help improve their utilisation rates. Moreover, the data collected can be used for analysis of their utilisation.

Specific requirements of the project are as follows:

  1. To develop functional requirements of the system based on the existing meeting room and visitor car park booking system.
  2. To propose new functions and system enhancements.
  3. To recommend and source the most suitable technologies with corresponding software and hardware for the system.
  4. To interface the system with IoT sensors.
  5. To install the system and conduct a trial run.
  6. To provide an open platform and interface with other new IoT sensors for different data collection, and to extend the system to cover all meeting rooms and car park spaces in EMSD Headquarters.

Expected Trial Duration
  1. Installation works to be commenced by Q3 2018.
  2. Trial and production launch to be commenced by Q1 2019.
