Summary and Challenges
  • BIM is widely adopted in both the construction stage and operation stage for design review and assets management respectively. It is therefore searching for an AR technology integrated with BIM to enhance user experience. It aims to visualize the data from the Internet of Things and drive the efficiency of inspections.
Expected Outcome
  • The AR product provides a new experience for users to adopt in BIM. Users can take advantage of the AR technology in BIM to monitor the parameters of smart buildings and visualize the project status of a construction site.
  • In order to maintain portability and flexibility, the AR product shall be executed by a handheld device (i.e. tablet).  At the same time, it shall be able to support the mainstream file format including skp, rvt, dwg, obj, fbx, sldprt, sldasm, 3dm, etc 3D modeling. It shall also be compatible with the existing smart buildings' applications such as IoT sensors to provide real-time data
