Summary and Challenges

Daylight from glazing façade imposes heat load on the air-conditioning system. The unwanted glare from daylight also affects indoor visual comfort.

Smart film, which can be directly mounted on existing facade glazing, is capable of adjusting light transmission ranging from being transparent to opaque.

We would like to develop a prototype system and conduct a trial for a feasibility study on smart film. Data will be collected and the system performance will be evaluated.
