I&T Wish Robotic for Indoor Environment Monitoring
(REF : W-0053)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges

This project aims to explore the use of robotics to assist our staff in a range of labour-intensive daily routines such as patrolling, facilities management and environmental data collection and monitoring in indoor areas.

The project would need to take on a few challenges below:

  1. System integration of different sensors, tools and navigation system of the robot
  2. Lift-taking and door opening algorithm
  3. Obstacle avoidance
  4. Inspection route and measurement consolidation

The autonomous robot should be able to go to a designated indoor area to patrol and collect environmental data. Indoor environment monitoring of the lighting and HVAC systems would facilitate proactive and preventive maintenance. Moreover, the robot should also be able to deliver documents, spare parts and tools, to designated locations.

Expected Outcome This project aims to provide assistance to EMSD staff for patrolling, facilities management and environmental data collection and monitoring in indoor areas
