As the Innovation Facilitator for the Hong Kong Government, EMSD has implemented a series of initiatives to drive Innovation and Technology (I&T) development, including setting up an E&M InnoZone at the EMSD HQs. EMSD is committed to promoting the application of I&T, supporting the government in enhancing public service efficiency and driving smart city development. The "E&M InnoZone" showcases numerous innovative technology solutions that are either developed in-house by EMSD or implemented in collaboration with industry and academia. The exhibits span artificial intelligence applications, smart Internet of Things (IoT), automated inspection robotics, and high-efficiency green building technologies, assisting various government departments in achieving higher quality and efficiency, strengthening asset management, and safeguarding frontline occupational safety.
EMSD's Innovation and Technology (I&T) strategic partners under the Memorandum of Co-operation (MoC) framework comprise 8 local universities/colleges, 6 local research institutes, and 5 I&T organisations in the Greater Bay Area (GBA). The academic partners are The University of Hong Kong, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, City University of Hong Kong, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Hong Kong Baptist University, Hong Kong Metropolitan University, and the Vocational Training Council. The research institute partners include Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, Hong Kong Productivity Council, Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute Company Limited, Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre, and Automotive Parts and Accessory Systems R&D Centre. In addition, the GBA partners include the Guangdong Academy of Sciences, Guangdong Provincial Association for Science and Technology, Guangdong Productivity Centre, Guangzhou Association for Science & Technology, and Shenzhen Association for Science and Technology.
