Effective crowd management plays a vital role in ensuring safety in large-scale events. Crowd gatherings may impose serious hazard if an excessive number of people flow into a specific place without accurate counting of number. In light of the health measures during pandemic, people flow management has become more important than ever to ensure public hygiene.
To address the need, an overhead video analytics (VA) system was developed to accurately count people at entrances and exits in both outdoor and indoor events.
The intelligent counting system equips with sensors and real-time tracking and analysis to achieve a 95% or above accuracy, even in high traffic volume areas. The stereo vision performs well in various lighting conditions and can distinguish between adults, children and other objects based on their heights, meeting the specific operational requirements.
| Problem Addressed | One common challenge in people counting is to define the counting logic to avoid inaccuracies. The overhead video analytics system comes with multiple sensors across the area to avoid double counting and provides highly accurate and advanced features such as filter zones, count once and etc. |

| Innovation | This overhead video analytic system analyses static images and/or dynamic videos to provide a total count of people within a specific area, whether it is indoors or outdoors. The camera has patented algorithms which can determine the footfall by video analysis on 3D image. With the use of advanced stereo vision (3-D) and object tracking technology, it provides accurate data under a broad set of environmental conditions such as high traffic and dynamic lighting in both indoors and outdoors. In addition, it also connects to the common public cloud services for further data analytics. |
