Plant Monitoring System (REF:C-0010)
E&M InnoPortal Trial Project Ref. No.:

Overview

In a compact city like Hong Kong, the vertical gardening system facilitates the growth of plants, provides an elegant greenery to users and brings the concrete jungle alive.

Urban afforestation has always been a challenge for modern architecture. Monitoring various parameters such as temperature, humidity, soil moisture, and light intensity is important for obtaining real-time information on plant health which largely affects the effectiveness of plant growth.

The plant monitoring system is connected to GWIN network via a low power and private LoRa (Long Range) network. This connectivity enables the system to monitor the health status of plants. By collecting the information, the system can accurately supply the necessary amount of light and water to each plant.

Problem Addressed

The plant monitoring system, "IoT (Internet of Thing) Vertical Gardening" solution merges advanced technology into plant cultivation, to enhance the quality and efficiency of urban afforestation.

Innovation
  • Adopting IoT technology into planting that helps monitor and obtain system latest data from anywhere and at any time
  • Smart gardening system that allows precise control on lighting and irrigation
  • Supports control over the emission of light wavelength to facilitate the plant growth
  • Special design for areas with limited space, tackling difficulties related to system maintenance and expansion
Key Benefits
  • Supports multiple advanced technologies, including LoRa and WiFi , enabling remote monitoring at ease
  • User can easily configure the system parameters by using wireless control which reduces the difficulties in indoor planting
  • Optimise the use of water and electricity through plant monitoring features
  • Effectively regulates the life cycle of plants and improves plant quality especially in indoor areas
