- A double-bed adsorption cooling system powered by renewable energy
- Unlike traditional vapor compression cooling systems, the adsorption cooling systems take advantage of the evaporation of an adsorbate (i.e. water) at a low pressure to perform cooling effect
- The adsorption cooling systems can reduce the electricity consumption by about 60% compared to that of the vapor compression cooling systems due to the absence of compressors. Moreover, it is more environmentally friendly because of non-toxic solid adsorbents and no traditional refrigerants, leading to zero ozone depletion potential
- The specific cooling power of the adsorption cooling system developed can achieve 400 W/kg
- The energy efficiency ratio of the adsorption cooling systems could be achieved to 5
