  • Analyze and recognize human running based on the motion information processing techniques (i.e. human body detection)
  • Enable the ability to localize running persons
  • Classify running events of small numbers of humans in a constrained railway condition with an improved accuracy
  • Interface with Public Address System (PAS) of the railway station to alert the passenger in concern

Trial Application and Expected Outcome
  • To identify running people with a specific identification: based on an improved R-CNN, which uses candidate region and classification convolutional neural network training model for detection to achieve satisfying performance. The detection can be formulated as a regression problem by separating bounding-boxes spatially and predicting labelled probability.
  • To introduce an effective algorithm as the baseline method for fair groundtruth comparisons: The R-CNN approach employs convolutional neural network to extract feature of extraction frame and evaluate convolutional networks. A stabilization algorithm is used to align the current frame with a preceding frame and with a succeeding frame.
  • To incorporate human body tracking technique to distinguish the running behavior from walking: When the length of a track exceeds some specific length, the motion analysis module analyzes the periodicity encountered in the track. Based on the result, it decides whether the tracked object is a running human or not.
  • To develop an efficient system detecting human running behavior for realistic applications: Detecting running movement can predict the occurrence of abnormal behaviors such as chasing, fighting and crime behaviors in advance. The output module marks the detected human locations in the frame and sends it to the PAS.
  • To integrate with station’s PAS to play an announcement in the concerned area: We have an experience in integrating with PAS and our system enables the making of public announcements to selected areas in the stations. Send SMS to notify station controllers for alerting and taking necessary actions.
