Development of Water-tap Hydropower Generator Module
(REF: S-1839) |
Trial Project |
|
Solution Feature |
- A high-efficiency micro-hydropower system (MHGS) will be developed for automatic water tap systems. The proposed novel system will be developed based on our many years' successful experience in micro hydropower harvesting systems for Water Supplies Department of the SAR Government.
- This MHGS system will provide sufficient or most of the power for the automatic opening and closing actions of water taps. We also gained experience from a consultancy project for developing an inline hydro power generation system for Sino Group.
- This MHGS system will be connected with the flexible hose of a water tap system.
- The MHGS system will provide a charging/discharging control system for energy self-sufficiency and automatic control.
- The MHGS system must be cost-effective and reliable for operation. A data collection system will be established for 3-month data collection.
|
Trial Application and Expected Outcome |
- The developed MHGS will be tested in our lab for improving the system's energy efficiency, but not affecting the water tap's normal operation.
- The developed MHGS will be installed on an existing water tap system in PolyU for on-site experiment with a data collection system.
- On-site data collection will last for 3 months. We will analyse the collected data for improving the reliability of system operation.
- A final report will be submitted.
- Commercialization effort will be made to promote the developed technology to local industry.
