  • 6D mmWave Radar non-intrusive technology that can scan Internal structure (including tree trunks and roots underground) through-object visualization, specific for high risk and high value tree health assessment.
  • Front-end mobile App to capture tree information using QR Code/NFC Tags/RFID Reader for RFID depending on Tree types with different risk levels.
  • Back-end Integrated Analytic Platform with Management Dashboard for Tree Management by district, site or user-defined level. Desktop application to review and adjust risk assessment factors by authorized users.
  • Core technology is Risk Scorecard Assessment based on multi-dimension tree information collected (patented scene analysis by photos, mmWave radar images, geo-location risk, climate risk and expert judgements and more) to develop an AI Assessment model specific for tree species in Hong Kong.
  • inancial-grade maker-checker controls to ensure data integrity with multi-level user authentication and priviledge levels. Adequate information security control with audit logs and reports.
Trial Application and Expected Outcome
  • Set up a data collection framework for individual trees by photo, mmWave Radar images, and other applicable IOT devices like accelerometers etc. and corelate to species, climate and location risks factors for back-end analysis. Outcome: a Tree Data Collection Framework.`
  • Set up an AI Risk Assessment model for Trees: Define the Risk Assessment Criteria; Classify and Annotate Tree Images, Choose a Model Architecture for image classification; object detection (eg. spotting cracks) and segmentation (eg. isolating tree parts); Train and Validate the Model; Incorporate Domain Knowledge.
  • Incorporate Domain Knowledge by collaborate with experts from International Society of Arboriculture and/or local academic professionals of Horticulture, Arboriculture and Landscape Management. Outcome: Review reports and continued review framework.
  • Setup of the review framework to improve Risk Assessment: Define Quality Metrics for Tree Risk Assessment; Integrate Expert Review and Feedback Loops; Apply the NIST AI Risk Management Framework; Use Real World Data; Establish a Continuous Review Cycle.
