Solution Feature |
- To develop modified photocatalytic materials to extend their light absorption into visible light region to make a full use of solar illumination and existing indoor illumination system for green photocatalytic disinfection.
- To develop photocatalytic materials with memory effect to maintain their disinfection activities in dark for an extended period of time after illumination is shut off.
- To conduct photocatalytic disinfection experiments on pathogens, for example, viruses, E. coli bacteria, and S. aureus bacteria, under visible light illumination to optimize material design.
- To conduct disinfection experiments on pathogens in dark after illumination is shut off to optimize material design.
- To develop proper coating process to coat photocatalysts with memory effect on air filter meshes to endow them the automatic disinfection capability.

Trial Application and Expected Outcome |
- The light absorption of photocatalysts is extended to visible light region.
- The photocatalytic memory effect is realized and the material could be active in dark for at least 8 hours after the light illumination is shut off.
- The photocatalytic materials could disinfect pathogens with high efficiency under visible light illumination.
- The photocatalytic materials could effectively disinfect pathogens in dark after visible light illumination is shut off.
- The photocatalytic materials could be effectively coated on air filter meshes to endow them the automatic disinfection capability.
