Solution Feature
  • This system is an integrated platform empowered by latest Artificial Intelligence (AI), Big Data technologies, Building Information Model (BIM) and Internet of Things (IoT) to conduct building performance visualization and building operation strategy optimization. AI-based air side optimization is one of the features enabled by this system.
  • The building operation optimization system settings should be based on dynamic environment parameters such as occupancy, event schedule and outdoor environment. This system takes all these various parameters in consideration for a comprehensive Machine Learning model to uncover hidden patterns and provide operation suggestions.
  • Footfall data will be collected from people counting camera or video analytics on typical CCTV, which will mainly influence the cooling load demand forecast result. The real-time detected people-counting information including daily footfall data, peak time, etc. are pushed into built ML models for insights derivation.
  • Genetic algorithm (GA) will be implemented to find the optimal solution to minimize energy consumption of fresh air equipment while satisfy cooling load requirements to maintain comfort level. It is a natural-selection-based algorithm which finds optimal offspring by simulating evolution process.
  • This system’s centralized data repository is able to be connected with external business intelligence portals like Tableau and Power BI to conduct data visualization. AI analysis results are processed in Tableau/ Power BI to show setting suggestions through display portal.
Trial Application and Expected Outcome
  • On the deployment of this platform, real-time building data from AHU, ventilation fans, etc. will be collected automatically through using open protocols like BACnet and Modbus. The platform then consolidates captured statistics and people counting data in a data lake for storage and various analytics.
  • In this platform, the collected data is filtered and clustered before dropping into Big Data analytics models, where the correlation between parameters and hidden patterns are uncovered to identify potential Energy Saving Opportunities (ESOs) and suggest for optimised operation strategies to achieve consumption reduction.
  • Through using business intelligence software like Tableau and Power BI, the air side data analytics outputs can be visualized and connected in minutes to support fast and informed decisions with the transformation from unstructured data to actionable insights.
  • After carrying out the implementation of energy saving operations, the post-implementation data collected back will be visualized on our platform's built display portal to make comparison and evaluate the performance on air side energy conservation.
  • To maintain the most efficient operation environment of air side devices, an on-going commissioning process is necessary which starts with continuously data collection on parameters including AHU settings and consumption bill, etc. The performance evaluation and gap with expectation will then be analysed for further improvements.
