Summary and Challenges

This project aims to monitor the occupancy, queue and indoor air quality in the washroom with the use of LoRaWAN sensors. Relevant information on occupancy, queue and indoor air quality shall be reflected real-time in a virtual floorplan, allowing the (mobile) app to notify the user of vacant toilets and their cleanliness indices in the proximity.

(i) The washroom management system shall provide real-time occupancy status using LoRaWAN door sensors;

(ii) for queue management, the management system shall use sensors that deal with privacy concerns;

(iii) for indoor air quality, the management system shall monitor and quantify the odour of human waste as a cleanliness index. Back-end web-based applications for data visualisation shall be developed accordingly with a user-friendly graphical user interface for a mobile app.
Expected Outcome This project aims to monitor the occupancy and tidiness of the washroom in Electrical and Mechanical Services Department Headquarters with LoRaWAN or other wireless sensors and applications.
