Summary and Challenges The objective of the project is to provide an interactive way for viewing 3D BIM model so that staff can view and maneuver BIM model for checking the compliance of BIM models submitted from contractors more easily.
Expected Outcome To build a 3D display system that supports direct display and maneuvering of BIM model with model control and video input from PC without pre-processing of BIM models
Expected Trial Duration 18 months (Including 3-month technology study, 9-month system development & production, 2-month installation and calibrations, 3-month trial and 1-month evaluation and adjustments)

Project Deliverables
  1. To review various 3D display technologies and solutions;
  2. To collect user requirements and propose system design;
  3. To develop a 3D display system that supports the features below:
    1. Display 3D BIM model using projector, monitor or other tools that can be viewed directly without wearing additional equipment such as glasses;
    2. Configurable source of BIM model input from PC;
    3. Monitor and control BIM models such as enlargement, rotation and selection, etc.;
    4. The display area should be sufficient for 5-6 people to view BIM models at the same time.
