Summary and Challenges This project aims to prevent tram derailment accident after tram wheels hitting a foreign object on tram track. The system needs to work in real time when the tram is moving at 12 m/s maximum in daytime, nighttime and bad weather.
Expected Outcome To detect and identify foreign object on tram track in front of a tram in real time during tram operation.
Expected Trial Duration 12 months

Project Deliverables The system works in real time to identify if the object in front of a tram is a potential hazard to tram operation, then give out an alarm to the tram driver to stop the tram immediately.
