Summary and Challenges Since 2000, FEHD has made use of the Rodent Infestation Rate (RIR)* survey to monitor the general situation of rodents in public areas. However, there are criticism about the effectiveness of the RIR. Hence, we would like to develop or adopt an index which suits the situation of Hong Kong for measuring the magnitude of rodent infestation. *The Rodent Infestation Rate at a particular locality at the time of survey could be calculated as follows:Rodent Infestation Rate =Number of bait consumed by rodent/Total number of bait retrieve x100%
