Summary and Challenges Continuous monitoring is one of the effective measures to predict malfunction of critical lift components and enhance the lift safety. In this project, we are seeking for a lift monitoring system based on cloud platform which can apply to lifts of different brands and provide the following information including (but not limited to):
1. Lift car: lift car vibration, door lock status, leveling status, number of passengers
2. Lift critical components: brake arms temperature, motor vibration, steel rope tension
3. Lift machine room: temperature and humidity
4. Lift motor power supply status
5. Control signals provided by the lift controller

To facilitate the data collection, the service provider can recommend and install additional sensors. The sensors can be connected to the monitoring platform through any available communication networks (preferably BACNet, Zigbee, Wi-Fi, or other internet-of-things technologies).
Expected Outcome
  1. The sensors and data transmission equipment enabling the lift monitoring platform
  2. Continuous data collection and monitoring during the project period
  3. A lift monitoring system based on cloud platform with graphical user interface for easy access of the lift information
  4. Quarterly progress reports on the abnormal events observed with analysis and improvement suggestion
