Project Summary and Challenges Optical fiber sensing is an innovative solution for lift monitoring. In EMSD, we have implemented a trial project on using fiber Bragg grating sensors to retrieve the conditions of critical lift components. However, due to the high cost of the data collection equipment and the lack of real-time analysis, it cannot directly contribute to daily maintenance of the lifts. In this project, we are seeking for a cost-effective solution to retrieve the sensor data, to analyze the collected data, and to provide predictive maintenance on the lifts using artificial intelligence technologies. The solution shall be compatible with the current sensors and shall provide a comprehensive monitoring system for the lifts. The service provider shall also liaise with the lift maintenance contractor to fix the issues once any abnormal activities are observed during the monitoring period.
Expected Outcome
  1. Two data logging equipment for fiber Bragg grating sensors in two lift machine rooms
  2. Continuous data collection and monitoring during the project period
  3. Predictive maintenance on critical lift components, including (but not limited to) steel ropes, brake arms, door lock based on artificial intelligence technologies
  4. A real-time monitoring system with graphical user interface
  5. Quarterly progress reports on the comparison between the predicted lift conditions and the actual lift usage 6. Liaison with lift contractor for resolving abnormal activities observed
