Summary and Challenges Electricity demand in Hong Kong has been increasing day by day. The ever higher loading on the power supply and distribution system may have accelerated the aging of equipment involved. More power professionals have to be involved in the daily maintenance and periodic inspection of electrical installations. To upkeep the stability and reliability of power supply system, this project shall introduce predictive maintenance and diagnosis system for major power distribution equipment. This project uses IoT technology to real-time monitor the condition of high voltage / low voltage switchboards and power transformers. Equipment condition data are uploaded to cloud platform for integrated analysis and evaluation, resulting in technical reports to facilitate predictive maintenance and condition diagnosis, with an aim to achieve “prevention is better than cure”.
Expected Outcome
  1. To further improve the stability of electricity supply; 
  2. To optimize the maintenance of power supply and distribution system; and
  3. To facilitate and promote Hong Kong as a Smart City.
