Summary and Challenges The handrails of escalators are one of the surfaces on which viruses could be attached, and potentially provide a means for virus spreading through physical contact by the passengers' hands.  

This project calls for a disinfection device which can disinfect the handrail surface so as to help minimise the spread of viruses
