The objective of the project is to develop a system for automatic detection of foreign objects (e.g. metallic screws) on escalators in railway stations that would affect their safe operation. Measures are to be proposed to remove the objects to prevent malfunction or damage to the escalators.

The system should automatically detect any foreign object on escalators that would affect their safe operation. Once detected, early warning should be given and the escalator should be safely stopped before damage is done to the escalator by the foreign object.
