| Summary and Challenges |
To detect concealed electric wires or metallic materials, there are already portable devices available in the market. However, these portable devices cannot detect a gas pipe. Concealed gas pipes are sometimes damaged by drilling or cutting machines during renovation works. The project aims to design a portable device to detect concealed gas pipes of metallic and non-metallic materials. Connected with the power supply of a drilling/cutting machine, the device will automatically terminate the operation of the drilling/cutting machine when a concealed gas pipe is detected within the work area.  |
