Real-time Water Quality Monitoring System For Public Swimming Pool
I&T Wish
Real-time Water Quality Monitoring System For Public Swimming Pool (REF: W-0337)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges
The project aims to adopt the Internet of Things (IoT) sensors in public swimming pools for a real-time water quality monitoring. The monitoring parameters will be based on the testing parameters applied by Leisure and Cultural Services Department (LCSD) on the swimming pools, which includes but not limited to temperature, pH value and chlorine level.
Water samples from each pool has to be taken by LCSD staff hourly for testing of residual chlorine and pH value, which is labour-intensive and ineffective. An innovative technology is required for improving the efficiency. To reduce the required manpower resources and installation time, wireless sensor/equipment would be selected as much as possible.
Expected Outcome
Real-time water quality conditions of the pools can be displayed on a display unit for visitors' view.
Data about water quality could be analysed and communicated with the control panel of swimming pool filtration plant for automatic control in future development.
Expected Trial Duration
4 months (Including procurement, installation, data collection and evaluation)
