To develop a real-time tram speed alert system able to work in daytime, nighttime, bad weather and in areas of high-density towers to prevent speeding.
The system would make use of positioning system such as Global Positioning System (GPS), Radio-frequency Identification (RFID) or any other similar type of technology for enabling a tram to compare against the speed limits along the tram lane in database.
Alert would be generated to tram driver when the tram speed exceeds the pre-set speed limit.
Recording system has to be provided for recording the tram location together with speed and speeding alert. Such information would be repeated to the Operations Control Centre of Tramways.

Development of a speed alert system for preventing tram derailment incident due to speeding.
