Trial Project
Summary and Challenges This project aims to develop a prototype of an automatic drone-based inspection system with image processing function in order to improve cemetery activities overseeing of the Registered Masons and enhance current practice of site surveillance patrols with deployment of automatic drones. The subject automatic surveillance and inspection system will be evaluated in the trial at a pilot local public cemetery.
Expected Outcome A prototype of automatic drone-based surveillance and inspection system shall be designed, developed, constructed, tested and commissioned with appropriate types of cameras, back-end imaging processing unit and analytic servers The UAV system should include following features:
  • Real-time UAV location tracking
  • Autonomous/planned aerial patrol without pilots
  • Auto-charging on landing/charging pads
  • UAV fleet coordination and management
  • Flights and video logs
  • Real-time Live HD video feeds for monitoring of site activities of Registered Masons
  • Detecting abnormal activities, personnel and objects at site
  • Upon detection of anomalies, raise timely alerts (e.g. SMS), including the S/N of the responder / work permit and coordinates of location, to the users
  • UAV shall be able to verify the work permit issued by the FEHD cemetery office, by means of wireless responder, visual tags, or any suitable technologies
  • UAV shall be able to approach the suspected target for taking pictures and/or video recording when unauthorized activities are found
  • UAV navigation system: BeiDou, GPS, GLONASS (Optional) and Galileo (optional)
  • Data Security Measures for transmission of data (photos, videos, control signals, coordinates etc.) between ground control station and UAV
Expected Trial Duration 12-month
