Summary and Challenges To develop a tram-borne infrared and video camera (or other similar technology) monitoring system to prevent tram overhead line (OHL) related incident.  The system works in real-time to monitor tram OHL condition.  Instant data collected will be processed automatically by analytics to determine if there is any abnormally high temperature, arcing, wear / tear or component anomalies.  Fault alarm message will be sent to Operations Control Centre of Hong Kong Tramways Ltd (HKTL) for timely remedial action and preventive maintenance.
Expected Outcome Development of an OHL condition monitoring system for preventing tram OHL related incident.
