Smart Floating Mixed Liquor Suspended Solid (MLSS) Removal Machine

I&T Wish Smart Floating Mixed Liquor Suspended Solid (MLSS) Removal Machine
(REF: W-0384)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges
  • The machine is designed for the removal of the floating MLSS in the bioreactor of sewage treatment works. It is expected that this machine can help minimise environmental nuisance to surrounding areas and retain a positive image of the government.
  • The applicant may consider to adopt cable driven robot, ship or unmanned vehicles equipped with water spraying system for the floating MLSS removal. Since the machine will be operated in sewage treatment works, clogging and corrosion problems may need to be taken into the design consideration of the machine, including but not limited to the water pump and motor.
  • In addition, due to the relatively larger surface area of the bioreactor and the E&M equipment installed alongside, the machine is suggested to be equipped with Simultaneous Localisation and Mapping (SLAM) for routing automation. What is more, big data analysis and AI should be utilised to identify the floating MLSS.
Expected Outcome There are several expected outcomes of the project :

1. the machine can be operated automatically to save human resources. Regarding the motion path, the machine should adopt SLAM for updating a map of an unknown environment and formulating a suitable motion path.

2. the machine should be able to identify the floating MLSS by using the Artificial Neural Network (ANN) or other AI related technique. T

3. it is expected that the machine can effectively remove the floating MLSS on the surface of the bioreactor. To that end, the water spraying system should have enough pressure to break the floating MLSS and push them to the downstream.
Expected Trial Duration 4-month
