Summary and Challenges This project aims to study the performance of solar panel installed vertically on the surface of a building.
Expected Outcome
  1. Design and build a solar system with solar panels installed vertically on the surface of a building. The solar panels will face to different directions to compare the corresponding energy harvesting levels. The solar system’s performance must be recorded for further evaluation.
  2. Analyze the experimental data. Assess the feasibility of the vertical application of solar panels in Hong Kong.
  3. Provide PV panel which fulfill the following requirement :
    1. Power : Not less than 190 W per sq. meter (STC)
    2. Efficiency : Not less than 19% (STC)
    3. Weight : Not more than 3.5 kg per sq. meter
    4. Thickness: Not more than 3 mm
    5. Application Class : Class A
    6. Monocrystalline solar cell
