Summary and Challenges
  • To provide an effective method of counting people for large scale events, an overhead video analytics (VA) system at entrance and exit is to be developed for counting the number of people in a specific area, either outdoor or indoor. Sensors for VA are expected to be included in this system. Also, some edge devices for counting the number of people at overhead position of entrance and exit are included. This VA system shall analyze static images and/or dynamic videos to have a total count of people within a specific area, either indoor or outdoor. In addition, it shall capture images/videos with necessary quality in various conditions. It would also be connected to the common public cloud service for further data analytics.
  • Project Challenges:
    1. Providing weatherproof design for handling different weather (e.g. IP55)
    2. Only counting result shall be uploaded onto cloud through network service for later process
    3. Provision of handshaking mechanism with common public cloud service. In order to improve the efficiency of drawing vetting, this project aims to develop an AI system to facilitate the construction drawings vetting that makes use of image analytics to intelligently state the changes against the previous drawings
Expected Outcome A video analytics system that provides: installed video and/or image capturing device, edge devices with required standards and a backend system that is connected to the public cloud service
