Summary and Challenges
The project aims to develop a 5G robot system, including a robot, a controller, head-mount devices and multiple screens, etc., as a docent to provide guided tour in museum or exhibition. The 5G-controlled robot would be equipped with a 360-degree camera for live view through head-mount devices and multiple screens, etc. The system could support AR feature to provide both video and audio streaming of the commentaries to enhance the docent service and audience experience. The system shall also support live docent mode in special occasions. System data shall be sent back to server for statistics compilation purposes, such as people counting, visiting time calculation, etc.
Expected Outcome
It shall be an integrated system with the following features :
5G-controlled robot with 360-degree camera
4K 360-degree live streaming to head mount devices and multiple screens, etc.
Automatic recognition of display items and booths (e.g. by QR Code, RFID, NFC or Bluetooth technologies, etc.) for provision of AR guided tour
Obstacle detection, collision avoidance and emergency braking system
Link up the content library with materials, such as demonstration video, technical specifications etc., for selection and viewing
Support live docent mode
Real-time data feedback for statistics compilation purposes
Automatic home return for battery recharging at a "home position"
The system shall support at least 10 concurrent users for viewing
