Summary and Challenges
The IoT sensor(s) to be powered by radio frequency energy harvesting technology shall attain the following features:
Functional in outdoor environment;
Capable of harvesting ambient RF energy from cellular and wireless systems to power IoT sensor. The sensor(s) to be powered is in the low duty cycle and low power category; and
The sensor(s) data shall be transmittable through internet (e.g. via Government-Wide IoT Network (GWIN)), with gateway to interchange wireless protocols when necessary.
Expected Outcome
Measurement and verification on the benefits of utilizing radio frequency energy harvesting technology on IoT sensor in an outdoor environment.
