Trial Project
Summary and Challenges
In late 2018, EMSD established Government-Wide Internet-of-Things Network (GWIN) which aims at facilitating smart city development and electrical & mechanical (E&M) services digitalisation. This network builds on Long Range Wide Area Network (LoRaWAN) technology, one of the Low-Power Wide Area Network (LPWAN) technologies family, allowing wide-area machine type communications through a LoRaWAN gateway.
To support Hiker Safety System and other operational needs, GWIN gateways are planned to be deployed on helicopter providing quick-deploy and temporary GWIN service at remote areas. We are now seeking for special antenna to maximise network coverage of GWIN-on-Helicopter.
Expected Outcome
The solution provider is expected to achieve the following:
Design an antenna that is
compact
lightweight
waterproof
outdoor used under intensive sunlight
compatible GWIN frequency band and
tailor-made for air-to-ground communication;
Provide professional certification service, laboratory test and field test to substantiate the performance of designed antenna (e.g. radiation pattern, antenna gain, efficiency, etc.);
Fabricate prototypes of the designed antenna; and
Productise the designed antenna for mass production.
Expected Trial Duration
6-month
