Summary and Challenges
District Cooling System (DCS) is currently adopted in Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge Hong Kong Port (HZMB-HKP). There are totally 7nos. of 1000TR direct seawater cooled centrifugal chillers and 3nos. of 450TR direct seawater cooled oil free chillers serving the DCS of HZMB-HKP. In order to follow the policy on carbon neutrality and energy conservation, we wish to adopt artificial intelligence with appropriate machine learning tools for optimization of the efficiency of chiller plant and upgrading functions on equipment control and data analysis to a more sophisticated and innovative level.
Tentative works to be expected :
Background study of chiller plant and obtain historical data and energy baseline of the chiller plant
Verification of all existing sensor health status
Supply and install new set of AI server
Supply and install weather sensors and passenger flows sensing system in the Passenger Clearance Building for prediction of cooling load
Interface works with the existing DCS SCADA system
AI Chiller configuration and machine learning
Measurement and verification of actual energy saving after the trial implementation of AI control to the chiller plant
Provide academic expert or professor from the university for consultancy advice
Expected Outcome
Implementation of artificial intelligence for control of chiller plant
Optimization of chiller plant with energy saving of at least 5% compared with energy consumption baseline
Issuance of technical paper for energy saving results comparing with baseline
Generate monthly energy usage report of the chiller plant for reference
