Summary and Challenges
Unstable power supplies will result in traffic signal failures and malfunction. It will cause inconvenience to road users, extra operational costs to government or even safety risks to the public. The objective of this project is to provide a reliable power supply for traffic signals under extreme weather conditions.
Expected Outcome
Provide continual and true online double conversion power to traffic signals outstation equipment in the event of a power outage, sag or brown out and extreme weather conditions until regular utility power is restored.
The proposed installation shall be operated within specification in hustle work environment, including but not limited to high temperature, high humidity and limited space inside the traffic controller cabinet in safely manner.
Keep the traffic signals of the junction in normal operations to prevent traffic accidents.
Provide appropriate electrical power storage for normal traffic signals operation even in extreme weather conditions is desirable.
Remarks: The proposer of the solution should submit an I&T solution proposal to EMSD on or before the closing date. It should include a preliminary design concept with block diagrams, system architecture, specifications and budgetary ballpark cost estimate. EMSD may invite the proposer to conduct an on-site demo on their proposal.
