Summary and Challenges
This Proof of Concept (POC) project aims to develop a system that can predict the failure of railway point machines. It involves gathering operational data, such as reading of electrical, vibration, temperature, and humidity on point machines using IoT sensors. The collected data shall be transmitted mainly via LoRa network with backup by mobile network to central computers for further analysis. The analysis will be conducted by Artificial Intelligence (AI) algorithms, which will learn the pre-failure symptoms associated with point machine failure modes. Once a pre-failure symptom is identified, the AI system will generate indications or alerts to notify relevant stakeholders.
Expected Outcome
Deliver a solution with IoT, LoRa network, 5G technologies and Artificial Intelligent (AI) analysis. The solution provider shall provide all software, hardware, cabling and installation works. After the POC, all installed hardware will be returned to the solution provider. All cables and accessories installed on-site shall be dismantled and made good by the solution provider.
