BIM-guided Robot for Filter Cleaning in Government Tunnels (REF: W-0498)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges
Objective:
To apply BIM with robot for cleaning huge filter during preventive maintenance of Ventilation system in Government Tunnels and overcome the following constraints
Constraints:
Large filter surface area (10m X 6m) and unreachable location (6 metres above the ground)
Risk for collision to the existing tunnel equipment
Short Operation Time Window
Labour-intensive cleaning process
Dusty and hazardous working environment for workers
Expected Outcome
Multi-purposes robot:
A BIM-guided robot is proposed to replace the existing cleaning service with several constraints. The cleaning robot should be a generic design and automated with the necessary equipment such as camera, sensors and cleaning jet
It should be able to reach high area up to 6m above ground level and precisely perform: Water Cleaning, Air Cleaning, Inspection
BIM utilization:
The cleaning / inspection routing should be simulated in computer to enhance the working efficiency
The robot will utilize BIM model’s Geo-Coordination for identifying its location, orientation and providing headroom information
Clash avoidance by BIM model and sensors installed on the robot
Generic type of robot for multi-sites use:
The robot could be deployed to multi-sites by means of BIM utilization with adaptability to deal with different constraints of different tunnels
The robot will recognize the surrounding equipment by their QR code attached on the equipment surface. i.e. Equipment details from BIM-AM will be real-time displayed to operator by handheld screen
Sensors data and video analytics utilization:
In case of any abnormal readings from sensors or central monitoring system, the robot will visually examine the filter condition and prioritise the cleaning schedule
Video analytic by the camera installed on the flexible arm for analyzing the filter condition for efficient and targeting cleaning and enhance environmental protection by saving electricity and water
Occupational safety and health:
Workers no need to exposure to dirty and dusty environment and minimize the chance of accident due to working on high level working platform
Expected Trial Duration
9-month
