Guided Wave Inspection Device for Lamp Pole Corrosion (REF: W-0525)
Matched I&T Solution
Trial Project
Summary and Challenges
Visual inspection is mainly adopted for checking the lamp pole corrosion in current O&M practice. The internal degradation for those buried poles or poles covered with paints cannot be examined comprehensively. Commercial inspection device currently available in the market is limited to physical constraints due to the varying size and shape of poles.
Therefore, this project aims to design, manufacture and develop a lamp pole corrosion inspection device, using Ultrasound Guided Waves technology, suitable for inspecting lamp poles with different size and shape to allow more efficient and effective inspection for different venues.
Expected Outcome
The inspection device is expected to detect, locate the internal corrosion and classify the corrosion severity for lamp poles by using Ultrasound Guided Waves technology. It aims to enhance the operational efficiency and minimize the down time for emergency repairs and replacement.
Expected Trial Duration
12-month
