Trial Project
Summary and Challenges

Lift is among the most commonly used transportation for most people in their daily life. Other than repair after breakdown and routine maintenance, we are looking to use different sensor technologies to monitor the health and safety conditions of a lift. We would like to explore the feasibility of developing different systems, such as noise signature/pattern recognition system and remote monitoring system, which would provide lift fault diagnostic and analytics for the purpose of predictive maintenance.

We are planning for a one-year pilot scheme to test and study the feasibility and effectiveness of the different systems of lift fault diagnostic and analytics. Some government premises will be used as pilot sites and we shall collect and compile results of the benefits that the systems bring about, such as reduced incidents of breakdown, reduced number of on-site inspections, greater convenience and passenger satisfaction for reduced downtime, and shorter time required for trouble-shooting as fault causes will already be known prior to arrival of maintenance personnel at site.

Expected Outcome Design and completion of a one-year pilot scheme to test the different systems of lift fault diagnostic and analytics, with a detailed report on testing results
Expected Trial Duration 12 months
