Summary and Challenges
  • After extreme weather conditions, some traffic lights would be defaced, cause conflicting traffic signals and pose danger to road users. A patrol vehicle, equipped with camera and edge processor, would be assigned for the inspection works. By leveraging advanced Artificial Intelligence and Computer Vision technologies, effective assessment on the conditions of traffic lights should be achieved, improving accuracy and efficiency of inspection routines.
Expected Outcome
  • The System shall be able to achieve the following:
    • Be a mobile system, i.e. system shall be operable on a moving vehicle
    • AI traffic lights identification
    • Accurately map the traffic lights identified
    • AI traffic light signal identification, such as Go, Stop, Turn Left / Right
    • Identify defaced traffic lights
    • User interface for reviewing equipment status, operation logs and traffic light in need of repair
    • Report generation
